Abilities | ||||
SCP-096 can perform a powerful melee attack while enraged. This attack will deal severe damage to any player targeted by SCP-096. Players who are not an active target will take no damage if hit. Upon being looked at or getting hurt by another player. SCP-096 can enter an enraged state. In this state their speed is greatly increased. The state last based on the number of targets. SCP-096 is unable to see fellow SCPs and non targets while in this state. While docile, SCP-096 can lean up against a flat surface to greatly reduce the volume of their cries. While this state is active their Hume Shield regeneration is doubled. SCP-096 charges forward with high speeds. Any player struck by this attack will take high damage and become Concussed. Non targets will take less damage and spend less time Concussed. | ||||

SCP-096 is one out of seven playable SCP classes within SCP: Secret Laboratory.
SCP-096 acts an assault class SCP, capable of effectively pushing with their team and then tearing apart large groups of targets once provoked.
SCP-079 and SCP-096 can never spawn in the same round unless the server has enough players to spawn six SCPs in a round. SCP-096 can never spawn as the only SCP in a given round.
A tall, pale humanoid capable of tearing through waves of heavily armed forces. It cries and cries and never seems content. You wish you could comfort it. You wish someone had told you to close your eyes. You wish you knew the danger you were in when the crying finally stopped.
___
“SCP-096 was recently transferred to Site-02, under the supervision of Dr. Daniels. It was the topic for weeks. Since then, SCP-096 has been our primary test subject for Project: Segmentum. Our efforts seem to be in vain. Despite the countless setbacks, Daniels is still adamant about killing the damn thing. For something so shy, it doesn’t have an issue with crying so loudly. You know, there are times where I’d wonder if it actually feels empathy. Would it understand if someone tried to comfort it? That being said, I can’t forget the shrieks of terror and the streaks of blood. Thinking about it makes me sick. I don’t know what was worse; the frantic screams, the shredding of flesh, or the sobbing that followed.”
-Dr. Katelyn Wright, Head of Project: Segmentum
When a human looks at SCP-096’s face, or injures SCP-096 in any way, it will enter a state of rage. While in rage, SCP-096 moves extremely fast and all humans who viewed its face or damaged SCP-096 will be highlighted for the duration. SCP-096 gains access to additional abilities: Melee Attack and Charge.
___
“The object doesn't want to be looked at, and, as a psychologist, I have to wonder why that is. After some time studying it, I’m beginning to wonder about the possibility this object has some form of latent anxiety about its appearance."
Press the Attack button while in SCP-096’s rage mode to perform a Melee Attack. Hitting a human with a Melee Attack will damage them severely. Hitting a door with Melee Attack will destroy it, rendering it completely unusable.
___
“It attacks with such a degree of violence and hatred. It’s hard not to wonder what lies behind its, supposedly, blank and soulless eyes.”
Activate Charge to send SCP-096 lunging in the direction they’re facing, destroying all doors and damaging all players in their way. Activating Charge on a gate causes SCP-096 to forcefully pry them open and get through.
___
“A common belief is that letting out your negative emotions relieves you of them. However, for the object, I can’t help but think that it only worsens its sorrow.”
Activate Try Not to Cry while near a vertical surface to lean against it. When leaning against a flat surface, SCP-096 will gradually grow quieter before becoming nearly silent.
___
“My analysis has led me to conclude that SCP-096 possesses a child-like psychological state, acting purely on its desires and emotions. It doesn't have the cognitive ability to process how it feels. Though, of course, prior analysis is purely conjecture. How are we to understand something as bizarre as this with human psychology?”
SCP-096 spawns in its Containment Area located in Heavy Containment Zone. SCP-096 will immediately be free to leave its area and access the main section of HCZ. It begins the round in its Docile state, in which it is unable to harm any human players and emits audible sobbing.
Human players can provoke SCP-096 into entering its Raging state via looking at its face or damaging it. During this mode, SCP-096 gains access to its offensive abilities and acts as an assault class for the SCP team. It will then be able to hunt down and eliminate any player that has provoked it.
SCP-096 can communicate with other SCPs, regardless of distance, by holding down the Q key. C.A.S.S.I.E. will make an announcement when SCP-096 is recontained and the cause.
Scopophobia is broken up into four stages: Docile, Distressed, Raging and Calming. SCP-096 will begin the round in the Docile state.
Docile is the default state of SCP-096. While in Docile, SCP-096 will be unable to harm humans. Its only active ability available in this state is Try Not To Cry. SCP-096 moves at a slow pace of 3.9 m/s, and will emit audible sobbing noises which alert nearby players to its presence.
If any human provokes SCP-096, either by looking at its face or damaging it, that human will become a target to SCP-096. A human that has provoked SCP-096 will receive audio and visual cues that they have done so. SCP-096 will also receive a notification that a human has provoked it.
After a human becomes a target, SCP-096 is given a ten second opportunity to enter the Distressed state. SCP-096 may hold the R key for 0.4 seconds to enter into the Distressed state. If SCP-096 hasn’t done this by the time the opportunity ends, then all current targets will lose their status as a target.
Distressed is the state used to transition from Docile to Raging. Once SCP-096 enters the Distress state, its speed will be lowered to 3.3 m/s. SCP-096’s sobbing will begin to quickly turn to loud screaming. It loses all perception of non-targets; including its SCP teammates. SCP-096’s screen will also slowly gain a red tint. After 6.1 seconds have passed in the Distressed state, SCP-096 will enter the Raging state.
Raging is SCP-096’s assault state. Upon entering Raging, regeneration of Hume Shield will pause. SCP-096 gains a significant speed boost, moving at 8 m/s, and will gain access to its offensive abilities: Melee Attack and Charge. While Raging, SCP-096 will be constantly screaming; the screaming is unaffected by the "audio dampening" effect caused by C.A.S.S.I.E. announcements and gun fire.
SCP-096 will only be able to see its targets while Raging. This includes loosing the ability to see the other playable SCPs. All targets will be highlighted with a glowing red orb that can be seen through walls. Humans can still become targets during this state if they provoke SCP-096.
SCP-096 can press E on gates while Raging to force them open and slip through. Other SCPs can slip through the gate at the same time, but humans, including non-targets, will instantly take 200 damage if they attempt to.
Raging lasts a minimum of 20 seconds and a meter on SCP-096's screen will slowly deplete to represent the remaining time. Each additional target will add an extra three seconds to this stage, with a maximum of 35 seconds of Raging time. After the timer ends, SCP-096 will enter the Calming state. SCP-096 can also manually enter the Calming state before the timer ends by holding the R key for 0.4 seconds.
Calming is the state used to transition from Raging to Docile. SCP-096 will stop screaming and its movement speed is lowered to 2.55 m/s. It will lose all current targets, and cannot gain any more; all non-targets will also become visible again. Its Hume Shield will begin passively regenerating again. The red screen tint effect will fade away during Calming.
After five seconds of being in Calming, SCP-096 will re-enter the Docile state. It will then immediately be able to gain targets again.
While in the Raging state, SCP-096 can perform a melee swipe with Left Click. The attack has a fairly large arc and will deal 60 damage to targets, with non-targets taking no damage at all; the attack damage is unaffected by Armor. The attack has a short delay of 0.5 seconds after each swing, and its wide arc makes it able to hit players easily. The attack deals 250 damage to doors.
While in the Raging state, SCP-096 can perform a charge attack with Right Click. The attack will make SCP-096 charge forward in one direction, with no control over turning. Targets hit by this attack will take 90 damage and receive the Concussed Status Effect for ten seconds. Non-targets hit by Charge will only take 35 damage and receive the effect for four seconds. This ability has a five-second cooldown. If SCP-096 charges into a gate, the gate will be forced open allowing SCP-096 to slip through it. Charge deals 750 damage to doors.
Players cannot become a target of SCP-096 whilst it is using Charge.
While in the Docile state, SCP-096 can perform the Try Not To Cry ability by pressing Right Click. It can be performed against any flat surface, and only while SCP-096 is standing on a flat surface.
While this ability is active, SCP-096 crying noise will gradually quiet down before becoming nearly silent. Hume Shield regeneration rate will also be doubled.
Movement is locked while this ability is active. The gradually quieting down effect gives the illusion of SCP-096 walking away.
