"Are you sick and tired of replacing burned out lightbulbs every other day?...We have the perfect solution, The Ghostlight!"
Presenter in SCP-2176 teaser

SCP-2176 is an SCP Item found in SCP Secret Laboratory. They are a brand of lightbulbs created by Titan Consumer Appliances and Electronics called "Ghostlight™". Unlike normal lightbulbs, SCP-2176 uses Ectoplasm in order for the bulb to light up its surroundings. If SCP-2176 is broken then the Ectomorphs are free to affect nearby electrical equipment, causing them to be forcefully activated or deactivated.

In Game[edit]

SCP-2176 can be found in Bulletproof Locker №7s around the map, which require a Keycard with both Containment Access 2 and Checkpoint Access  Janitor Icon dark.png Guard Icon dark.png ZManager icon dark.png

to open.
Up to three instances can spawn in a given round.

While having SCP-2176 equipped, the player can either click Left Click.png Left Click or Right Click.png Right Click to throw SCP-2176. If SCP-2176 collides with the ground, it will instantly shatter. If it hits the ground, but not with enough speed to destroy it, then the lightbulb will instead crack, causing it to automatically shatter after ten seconds have passed. This includes dropping it from one's inventory.

SCP-2176 will have different effects depending on the type of room it shatters in.

Conditions Effects
Thrown in a room under normal conditions
  • Effects last for 15 seconds after shattering.
  • All lights turn off and doors lock, similar to SCP-079 blackout.
  • SCP-079 cannot interact with doors in the room.
Thrown in a room that is currently under blackout
  • Effects last for 15 seconds after shattering.
  • Blackout immediately ends. All lights turn back on, and the doors are forced open.
    • If SCP-2176 is thrown adjacent to a blackout room, it still forces the door open.
  • SCP-079 cannot interact with forced doors, nor blackout any room connected to said doors.
Thrown in a room containing a Tesla Gate
  • The Tesla Gate discharges for a short time then is disabled for 15 seconds, allowing safe passage.
  • SCP-079 cannot trigger the disabled Tesla Gate.

SCP-2176 does not work in the following rooms:

  • SCP-2176 can be used to escape hostile players by trapping them in a locked room for a short amount time.
  • SCP-2176 can be used to trap players in the same room with you.
    • This is mostly done to prevent SCPs (notably SCP-096) from fleeing when attempting to use the Micro H.I.D. against them

Related Achievements[edit]

  • Escaping as a Class-D with at least 2 SCP Items in your inventory grants the Property of the Chaos Insurgency achievement.
