Operational Guide

Anabolic-steroid use is not uncommon in athletic competitions. What is uncommon, however, is their use in competitive chess tournaments or collectible trading card games. Yet here we are.

The perfect superhero drug for all competitive needs, that’s what Prometheus Labs sought to create. They succeeded; It worked…Perhaps a little too well.

"Dr. Wesson was found in the site’s cafeteria trying to eat four foot-longs as fast as possible. Naturally, he was being cheered on by the rest of the staff. This may seem like normal workplace fun and games, until you find out that Dr. Wesson has been doing extensive testing with samples of SCP-1853. We may need to conduct some tests on him to make sure he hasn’t come into contact with it at any point."
-Dr. Alexa Ambrose, Medical Supervisor, Site-02

In Game

SCP-1853 can be found in Bulletproof Locker №7s around the map, which require a Keycard with both Containment Access 2 and Checkpoint Access to open.

Up to two instances can spawn in a given round.

Effects

When the player presses Left Click while having SCP-1853 equipped, they will pour the translucent green liquid onto their left arm. The player will then be given the SCP-1853 Status Effect which causes the following:

  • 50% decrease in item pickup time.
  • 20% decrease in weapon ADS and Hip-firing inaccuracy.
  • 20% decrease in weapon recoil.
  • 35% reduction in reload/unload time.
  • 20% reduction in ADS enter/exit time.
  • 20% reduction in firearm draw time.
  • 20% reduction in draw and use times for all treatment items, grenades, SCP Items, and candy.
  • Removes speed and stamina penalties for held items.
  • All background soundtracks are muted.
    • The Alpha Warhead soundtrack is not muted as it is apart of the announcement/siren sound effect.

If the player drinks SCP-207 or Anti-Cola while under the effects of SCP-1853, they will be given the Poisoned Status Effect. SCP-500 can be used to remove the effects of SCP-1853 (It will also remove SCP-207, SCP-207? and the Poisoned effects as well).

The item can not be stacked.

Danger

SCP-1853 operates on a system called Danger. Danger is a stack-based system that multiplies the base effects of SCP-1853 depending on the current value of Danger. For each full Danger stack past its default value, SCP-1853's effects are increased by 50%. There is always at least one Danger level active at a given time with a max of five full Danger stacks. Item Equip/Usage and ADS Enter/Exit time will cap out at a 40% decrease. Item Pick Up time is unaffected by danger level.

Danger can be gained via certain events occurring to or around the player. Certain events can stack with each other and others cannot. Danger stacks will dissipate 20 seconds after activation unless their condition refreshes. Players will hear a subtle sizzling noise when a full Danger stack is gained, and when Danger is lowered. Below is a table detailing each event that produces Danger.

Event Danger Increase Stackable?
Receiving damage (excludes Cardiac Arrest & Corroding). + 0.25 Danger for every ten health lost. Yes.
The Cardiac Arrest effect is active. +2 Danger. No.
The Corroding effect is active. +2 Danger. No.
Encountering playable SCP(s) (excludes SCP-049-2). +1 Danger for the first SCP, then 0.5 for subsequent ones. Yes.
Encountering SCP-049-2. +0.25 Danger. Yes.
Encountering armed* humans on an opposing team. +1 Danger for every armed enemy, then +0.25 for subsequent ones. Yes.
The Alpha Warhead has been engaged (not detonated). +1 Danger. No.
Active target of SCP-096. +2 Danger. No.

*Armed is defined as having a weapon in their inventory.

A disguised SCP-3114 will still increase the danger level. Allowing the item to be used to see through the disguise.

Trivia

  • Similar to SCP-2176, SCP-1853 was an idea suggested by a patron in the official SCP SL Discord that was forwarded to the Game Design team after the Art Manager took a liking to the suggestion.
  • When SCP-1853 was first added to the game, it applied a 50% penalty to Stamina.
    • A later patch lowered this to a 30% penalty before it was removed all together in the Mimicry update.
