The Alpha Warhead is a mechanic in SCP:SL that causes the underground section of Site-02 to be blown up, forcing everyone to evacuate to the Surface Zone or go to Heavy Containment Zone to turn off the Alpha Warhead.
The Alpha Warhead acts as a last resort emergency method in an event of a serious containment breach, with the intent of blowing up any threat that is inside Site-02.

In-Game

The Alpha Warhead is a mechanic often used to stop campers from prolonging the round by forcing them out of hiding. To turn on the Alpha Warhead, one most located the silo in Heavy Containment Zone and flip its lever. This can be done by anyone except SCP-079.

Afterwards, one must go up to the Surface Zone and open the nuke room door, which requires a Keycard with

to open.
They then must open up a button panel, which also requires Nuke Access to open. Afterwards, the button can be pressed by anyone if the warhead is ready.

The screen on the terminal will state the current status of the warhead. Ready means you can turn it on. Disabled means you can't turn it on.
Please Wait means the you must wait before turning it back on.

After turning on, a countdown will begin on the screen in the nuke room. A loud horn will play twice as soon as it is turned on.
C.A.S.S.I.E. will then announce the activation and how much time until the Alpha Warhead blow ups.
The time can range from 80 seconds to 120 seconds, depending on the server. Though the default time is 90 seconds. A siren will also begin to play while the warhead goes off. Red lights will turn on through out the entire facility, including on Surface Zone.
All doors inside the facility, besides SCP-106's CC door and SCP-079 CC door will be locked in an open state during the nuke. Servers can use config to make it so the gates are not locked open.
During the last 45 seconds of the timer until detonation, a snippet of "Ajoura - The SCP Foundation Main Theme" will begin to play.

The detonation sequence can be canceled by pressing the red button in the Alpha Warhead Silo on the control panel. When this happens, the sirens will stop, the lights go back to normal and C.A.S.S.I.E. will announce the warhead has been cancelled.

After being canceled, the Alpha Warhead can't be activated for a short period of time. Flipping the lever back to the off position disables the nuke until the lever is turned back on. C.A.S.S.I.E. will announce that the detonation sequence has been resumed, and will say how much time is remaining. The time remaining is based off how much time was left when the Alpha Warhead was last canceled.
It is impossible to turn off the nuke at the last 10 seconds of the countdown; the screens in both the Silo and Surface nuke room flash "Detonation Inevitable" above and below the countdown.
Anyone left inside the facility will be instantly killed when the warhead blows up. Turning on the Alpha Warhead is one of the only three ways to kill SCP-079.
